Why Talented Athletes Fail To Achieve World Class

In the world of professional sports, It's all too common in witnessing a immensely talented athlete falter before reaching the pinnacle of their sport. Ironically, transitioning to pro level often hinders their hunger. It is often those initially overlooked athletes who weren't deemed to be anything spectacular who carry a chip on their shoulder blossom into something extraordinary.

The world is brimming with potential greatness that can emerge from these young phenoms. Yet, only a select few taste the fruits of success, an even smaller fraction ascend to world-class status, and an exceedingly minuscule reach legend.

Why?

A single pivotal poison emerges, threading through the lives of most athletes..

They are seduced by the distractions from the outside world.

With focus spread thin across many areas, athletes fail to hone their craft with scattered attention and devotion, preventing true greatness to flourish.

Truth

Athletes succumb to the plethora of distractions.

When pro athletes gain money and status. They are attack with distractions from all angles.

These empty indulgences seduces the athlete to pursue fleeting gratifications:

- Drugs, alcohol, digital addictions, empty carbs, empty drama, nightclubs and a host of other fleeting entertainment distractions and addictions. Noone is immune to its highly seductive nature, particularly high-paid athletes who can afford luxuries. In fact, it is the up-coming- broke athletes with limited resources who manage to maintain a heightened sense of focus.

The athletes are drawn to the nightlife when they should be recovering. Alcohol, fast foods, and substances harm their bodies, and replace their diet. As a result, they come to training only 50% prepared. Socializing and addictions take over learning. They are slow to new emerging training methodologies and scientific advancements in their field. They don't learn or adapt, which hinders their progress.

They show up to practices going through the motions, therefore, they remain at their current level. They do not become. They merely practice. They do not master.

Consequently, a considerable majority are allured into the addiction abyss, never finding their way back out.

Hence, the path to even becoming in the top 30 rankings in the world, let alone the greatest of all time remains elusive for those ensnared by the allure of societal negative influences.

A Part Time Athlete

Greatness is total devotion.

For the athlete who reads this... you cannot excel at anything special with part time focus and energy.

A part-time human gets nowhere.

He who sprinkles inches of momentum here and there will ultimately lead nowhere. Unwavering devotion over the long haul of time is impossible to accomplish when one's attention is scattered in various bits and pieces.

Legend

For the one who seeks to be legend: A legend lives in a way nobody does. His life is organized in a particular way that most will find peculiar with. He knows the outside world will poison him. He senses others are distracted and enamored by nonsense. Silly games does not interest him. He has experienced how the outside world detract away from his focus and craft. He feels his time and mastery are too precious to spoil.

And therefore, he often spend time alone.

Greatness begins shaping itself in solitude

*

This is why the super-talented phenom often fails to become great. True greatness demands more than just raw talent or hard work; part of the battle is commitment and a resolute defense against the allure of the world's distractions.

For those that shield themselves against the siren songs of society, the possibility for reaching the pinnacle of their craft can become a reality.
