4 Simpletons Arrive At the Gates of Tochen...

They have heard of a great wise master, who resides in the remote mountains of Tochen, also known as the nameless sage. Rumors speak of the illustrious sage. They say his enlightenment equalled that of those who dwelled high above the clouds. He bore within him the profound knowledge of human mind complexities and perspectives as if they were secrets stored away in the pockets of his robe.

Despite the air of serenity that surrounded him, the Nameless Sage had an intriguing duality to his character. He was known to be gentle and thoughtful, always willing to engage in profound discussions. Yet, there was also a mischievous streak in him, he took delight in answering absurd questions, often with a touch of wit and ridicule on the foolish. Other times he was ferocious and single in his attack against the suffocating grip of misguided thoughts that was choking humanity.

As the Simpletons arrive...

He made them stand on one leg in a prayer pose for a hour, which the nameless sage described necessary for enlightenment and to show respect for the ether.

Of course, no such thing was mandatory! It was all for the amusement of the nameless sage. A practical joke to amuse himself!

*

Each simpleton had a question of their own they wish to be fulfilled.

Simpleton number 1 asked the Master.

Q: "Great Master, why are some people blessed with good fortune, and I seemed to always struggle?"

The Master replied: It is you that is lost. And it has always been you from the beginning to the end. Brainwashed like cult indoctrination, you don't see the false you have made for yourself. Bondage to desires has stirred nightmares from your own creation. You walk on this earth as if the birds target you depositing their worst on your head, when it leaves no traces in the sky, as nature is indifferent to your desires.

Listen here, good fortune does not arrive to anyone in particular. Fortune does not discriminate against those deemed unworthy. No such thing exists. Things that are beautiful and desirable are from your mind. Things that are ugly and undesirable are also from the mind. The names and labels imposed by worldly judgment create the chains that bind you to the rope of discontent.

Chained to ego-clinging and desires is a mind that has conquered you. All worldly activities by nature create pain. We can be swept away by unnatural forces, distracting what's really important. If we hang on to these bondages, ego-clinging, unfulfilled desires, we risk accumulating a heap of self-inflicted hardships.

Nevertheless, people like you fall prey to the toxic emotion of envy. Their mind governs unwholesome thoughts. Realizing if the art in craft is devoted, success and material abundance will naturally come your way. By learning this realization in your heart, not merely intellectually, this poisonous emotion will dissolve naturally on its own. So understand that there is boundless, untapped potential within you. But it cannot be unleashed till these chains are unshackled.

Simpleton number 2 asked the Master.

Q: "Great Master, For someone like me who has poor discipline. How do I practice diligence?"

The Master replied: You are aspiring as mud. Too afraid of harsh wind whiplash your face when it should be pushing your back. You lack the armor of perseverance. No wonder why commonness finds you, when it is you who should be walking alongside greatness.

Since the unfolding of your thoughts is habitually acquiesced to defeat soo easily. One must observe what is preventing him. What must be eliminated? What must be simplified? What must I create clarity in? What are the blockages?

The nature of indolence or diligence is neither naturally present in anyone. Humans are moved by their calling, their vocation, and they cannot help themselves when inspiration and learning are present. Only then can devotion blossom. You have known what diligence brings you, but have you recognized the consequences of what indolence will bring you? For the time wasted will not be returned to you.

Understand idleness leads to greater suffering. You will suffer the regrets of time wasted and consequences of non-action. Time is a precious commodity that cannot be regained once it has passed, so use it wisely. Too much silk sheets, warm weather with grapes plop into your mouth blunts your edge.

Men like you become easily addicted to the world. They indulge in their desires and are drenched in addictions. They immerse themselves in the allure of bright neon lights and gatherings that offer little value. Such humans become useless to themselves. Develop the strength of resilience and you will overcome indolence.

Simpleton number 3 asked the Master.

Q: "Great Master, for a man like me who is dim-witted, uneducated, and unintelligent. Please bestow an instruction on how to obtain wisdom."

The Master replied: I have little faith in the intellectual man. Their wisdom is marvellous as a block of wood. Endless thinking permits them from seeing true reality. Puny minds like yours are unable to grasp true awareness since you believe the teachings taught by society are of merit. You lack wisdom, not intellect.

Listen here, man part takes in learning for the sake of learning without questioning the true nature of what has been learnt. Is it not better to learn about the mind? Since the mind governs your entire being. Rebirth begins with exploring the mind and awareness, not facts and figures about the world. I refer this to supreme reality, the path to awakening.

The society's degrees amounts to zero if one cannot even tame the wagon load of monkeys that is the mind. And even this requires little vast learning. Since the mind is not confined to script or category, there is no caught up with labels. Intelligence has little relevance in achieving in singleness of mind or worldly success or harmony at home. When this realization is settled, a new way of transcending ordinary experiences. Thinking ceases to allow instinct to take the lead completely.

Men like you find it hard to believe society's teachings are mere conditionings that serve little purpose. Do you wish to possess an ordinary mind or a mind that's enlightened with awareness?

Understand this, everything that you know may not be true. Begin again like a rebirth. Begin awakening. Start here.

Simpleton number 4 asked the Master.

Q: "Great Master, hear me. I have followed the success books, yet I am nowhere successful. I have followed the happiness books, yet I am nowhere near equanimity. Why is this?"

The Master replied: Your mind is noisier than a barking dog. Boneheads like you idolize intellectual pursuits, believing the bald heads in orange robes and dumbell success coaches who are nothing but ravening wolves disguised in sheep's clothing. It is you who should be paving the way for discovering the wilderness instead of being led astray like a circus animal. Too much time behind the cage of self-improvement has stolen your natural intuition.

Listen here, humans are addicted to the habitual cycle of learning and forever adding and forever hopeless, believing the falsified scripts and stage acts. Only the awakened can see through the tricks and tricksters. Forget about happiness and awaken to wakefulness. What is meant by wakefulness ? It's the realization that everything about you is shaped by conditioning. This alone can generate a sense of peace.

The nature of peace is not something that needs to be sought after through effort. Cultivation or achieving it are further acts of striving. It has been your innate possession all along. It's you who has strayed from the path by succumbing to the influence of the mind and society. The ceaseless chatter of the mind distracts you from the essence of nature.

Before aspiring for wealth, one must first attain self-awareness. Material possessions such as wealth, property, and belongings are shallow satisfactions that will come to those who are passionate about their craft. Love for craft fuels determination and boosts resilience in the face of trials and challenges. Success cannot be attained through shortcuts. Success is only within reach when individuals are aligned with their authentic selves and follow their true calling. Beware of success books that may lead you away from your authentic self.

Nevertheless, men like you are addicted to self-improvement. If I tell you they do not work, your mind fills with doubt, and you no longer know what to think. Yet you will insist on more teachings, seeking further guidance. Paradoxically, the more information you accumulate, the less action you take. Put a distance between you and the world. Between you and the unwise. Between you and you period!
